Too many Sri Lankan businesses are still using handwritten bills, broken Excel sheets, or expensive foreign software that doesn't understand LKR. We decided to fix that.
Built from the ground up for Sri Lankan businesses
SmartBill was born out of a simple truth: Sri Lankan businesses deserve software built for them β not software built elsewhere and adapted poorly. We saw shop owners juggling handwritten bills, outdated Excel sheets, and foreign POS systems that didn't understand LKR, IRD compliance, or the pace of local trade.
So we started from scratch. No USD pricing. No confusing interfaces. No support across a time-zone. We built a billing and POS platform that speaks the language of Sri Lankan business β from fast printed bills to the VAT-compliant invoice the IRD expects.
Today, SmartBill is being shaped hand-in-hand with early Sri Lankan businesses. We build carefully, listen closely, and improve the product around real day-to-day billing work.

Every feature we build starts with a question: does this solve a real problem for a Sri Lankan business owner? If the answer is no, we don't build it. LKR pricing, Sinhala support, and IRD compliance are not afterthoughts β they are the foundation.
Radically simple
Your cashier should be able to learn SmartBill in minutes. If it takes longer, we failed. We strip away every unnecessary feature and every confusing screen. Simple software gets used. Complex software gets abandoned.
Always reachable
When your POS breaks at 6pm on a Friday, you need help now β not a ticket number and a 48-hour wait. Our support team is on WhatsApp, replies in minutes, and actually fixes things.

The problem identified
We noticed hundreds of Sri Lankan shops still relying on handwritten receipts, broken Excel files, and foreign POS systems priced in USD. There was a clear gap: no affordable, local-first billing software built for Sri Lanka's business reality.
SmartBill launches
We shipped the first version of SmartBill β LKR pricing, IRD-focused invoices, and a UI simple enough for busy cashiers to learn quickly.
Multi-branch & analytics
As our customers grew, we grew with them. We launched multi-branch management, advanced sales analytics, staff shift tracking, and a customer loyalty module β all built from requests from real Sri Lankan business owners.
Early rollouts, close feedback
We are working closely with our first customers, polishing onboarding, reports, and day-to-day reliability. The focus now is quality, support, and steady improvement β not inflated numbers.
